"Grandpa's Windmill"
Reproduction of an oil painting by my grandfather, Edward Anders
Andrea Myers is a native of California, born in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto but raised around the orchards and rice fields of rural Northern California. She earned a BS in Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and an MS in Systems Management at College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University) in Belmont, CA. She spent 14 years in her early career as a social worker for three different counties in California. Beginning in 1984, she began a 28-year career in IT with Pacific Bell/SBC/AT&T, retiring in 2012.
As a child, she would sit for hours and draw horses in graphite pencil or test her skills with Paint-by-Number paint kits. During her working years she honed her artistic skills on numerous interests: sewing, macramé, needlepoint, crewel embroidery, crochet, knitting, tole painting, you name it.
After retirement she stumbled upon a colored pencil class at her local art studio in Livermore, CA, which brought her to discovering CPSA and a new world of fellow artist friends. Andrea mostly draws to gain experience in the different techniques offered through colored pencil and graphite/charcoal, using different papers, both white or colored, suede mat board, Pastelmat, Pastelboard, and Dura-Lar drafting film.
